This section of the Choctawhatchee River features feeder streams with cascades flowing down rock bluffs making for great vista points along the route. Begin off U.S. 231 where the bridge crosses the river. There is a pull-off spot under the bridge where you can park and launch. From here make your way down river with cypress, sweet gum, beech and longleaf pines along the banks providing further scenery and tranquility. End this trip at John Hutto Park along the right side of the river, just past the old cement bridge after passing under Alabama 123 bridge. Picnic areas are available at John Hutto Park making this a great spot to stop and eat after your trip. If desired you can continue down river to the next access point at the bridge crossing of U.S. 84.
