Beginning at the Frank Stewart Memorial Bridge along County Road 8 in Cherokee County, Alabama, the Terrapin Creek is a great Class I day trip. Offering views of the Appalachian foothills, unique rock formations lining the banks, and non stop excitement with shoals, drops, rocks and rapids after nearly every bend that the river makes. After passing the natural spring flowing into the river, which you can drink from, you will near the end of the trip. County Road 175 at Alabama Highway 9 with the take out on the left hand side of the river. You have the option of extending your trip to the State Road 9 Bridge if desired. 300 cfs is the minimum flow for running this trip.
