Located along the border of Alabama and Georgia, Walter F. George Reservoir, also known as Lake Eufaula, is a 46,000 acre lake created on the Chattahoochee River. Camping, paddling, Swimming and fishing are popular activities along the lake. This particular trip begins from Thomas Mill Creek Park boat ramp located just off Henry County Road 97. From here travel south east across the open waters of the reservoir to Cotton Hill Public Use Area which is located on the Georgia side of the reservoir. Along your route you will have the opportunity to pass a few islands before reaching Cotton Hill. Birding is possible throughout this area with Osprey nesting sights in view. There is also a sandy beach area located at Cotton Hill Park, use this as your take-out, or travel a little further to the parks boat ramp (shown here). You also have the option of traveling to Sandy Creek or George T. Bagby State Park located near by.
