This long loop through the Ouachita National Forest takes you through miles of densely forested hill country in western Arkansas. The loop is best negotiated as a two or three-day backpack adventure with extra time allotted in case of rain. There are multiple stream crossings on this adventure, two of which, involving the Little Missouri River, can be highly hazardous up to two days after rains.
