Lake Maumelle is a large reservoir between the Ouachita National Forest and Little Rock Arkansas surrounded by hardwood and evergreen woodlands. Entering the water is not permitted at the lake as it is a culinary water supply for the city of Little Rock but paddling and fishing opportunities are good. The Marina Lane boat ramp accesses the western end of the lake where there are many bays and coves to explore.
