The Ouachita National Recreation Trail runs for over two hundred miles from Oklahoma to Lake Maumelle in Arkansas. The trail takes you through dense hardwood and evergreen forest and over and along many mountain ridges. This section of the trail begins at a trailhead near Lake Ouachita and takes you east through lush countryside over Ouachita Pinnacle to the Ouachita Pinnacle Trailhead. Given the length of this leg of trail it is best enjoyed as an over-nighter. This is a one-way adventure so a shuttle vehicle is necessary; it can be linked with the next leg of the trail for a long through hike.
