Shady Lake, more of a pond really, is a scenic little reservoir located within the Ouachita National Forest at the Shady lake recreation area. Steep forested hills plunge down to the shores of Shady and their mix of hardwoods and evergreens make the place particularly attractive in autumn when the leaves are changing. Other recreation opportunities abound in the area with many miles of trails and camping facilities nearby.
