This multi-day trip to Buchanan Pass and Sawtooth Mountain winds through forests, open meadows, and past blooming alpine wildflowers to spectacular views of Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. It follows Buchanan Pass Trail through the forest and alongside St Vrain River which it eventually crosses and climbs to the alpine meadows below Buchanan Pass. From the meadow, the trail climbs up the rocky slopes to Buchanan Pass where it then follows a ridge to the summit of Sawtooth Mountain.
