This trail follows First Creek to Missionary Ridge where you'll find excellent open views of the San Juan Mountains. It follows the ridge through a mixed forest of Douglas fir, ponderosa pine, Gamble Oak, and aspen groves. After passing through several open meadows, the trail descends toward Red Creek and follows it to the forest service road that leads back to the trailhead. Try this hike in the fall when the aspens turn a golden hue.
