The ride to Ptarmigan Pass begins at Camp Hale. This is a challenging climb on a dirt road that begins out gradual and then steepens towards the summit. It offers impressive views of the Notch Mountains, Gore Range and the Sawatch Range. The descent is glorious but be aware of potholes and vehicles.
