Shelf Road is a historic old wagon and stagecoach road that connects Canon City with the gold mining camps of Cripple Creek. It is a relaxing ride through Helena Canyon and offers amazing views of the limestone cliffs and tall red rock walls. Big Horn Sheep frequent the area. Helena Canyon is a “hard hat” zone because of the possible loose rock from above.
