The Fort DuPont State Park was named for Rear Admiral Samuel Francis du Pont and the Fort was actively used as a military base from the Civil War through World War II. The park features 322 acres along the scenic Delaware River and the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. This trail allows visitors to visit the Fort and explore the site’s rich history and have spectacular vistas of the C&D Canal as well as Pea Patch Island across Delaware River.
