The Chipola River starts in Alabama and flows south into Florida, providing 50 miles of designated canoe trail and lots of opportunity for scenic paddling through undeveloped and agricultural terrain. This section of the river starts from Yancey Bridge and floats almost 20 miles to the take-out at Peacock Bridge. The river is shallow and swampy but does have a decent current at times with some limestone banks along the way. There are some small creeks and springs that feed into the river along this section, changing the flow, width, and feel of the river a little as it goes. The take-out is located at Peacock Bridge which offers easy access to the river.
