Lake Kissimmee is the fourth largest lake in Florida and it offers many miles of scenic, undeveloped shoreline for paddling and wildlife viewing. The lake is part of a state park that has a boat ramp located on Zipper Canal which leads out to the lake. Once on the lake, paddlers can follow the shoreline in either direction for as many miles as they are seeking. This trip follows the shoreline north for 5 miles towards Sturm Island. The water can get rough when windy so be aware of current conditions before setting out. The state park also offers camping, picnicing, hiking trails, and other waterways and lakes that are also good paddling destinations.
