The Suwannee River originates from the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia and travels over 200 miles through the State of Florida before draining into the Gulf of Mexico. The river twists and turns through undeveloped wilderness terrain and offers diverse scenery along the way. This run covers the section of river between Suwannee Springs and Suwannee River State Park and is a good option for a multi-day trip on the river. There are multiple access points along this segment allowing paddlers to set out for a shorter distance. There are also some river camps and primitive camp areas that can be used for an overnight trip but be sure to check availability and make arrangements when planning a multi-day trip on the Suwannee.
