This section of the narrow Etowah River offers gorgeous North Georgia mountain scenery as it winds through Dawson State Forest. The Etowah River has been touted as one of the best paddles in Georgia. Sycamore, ironweed, ash and river birch trees line the banks providing shade and canopied areas at many spots on the river. Be aware that because it is state owned land, it is perfectly fine to do canoe camping.
