Lake Chehaw (also known as Lake Worth), is a man-made lake created by the Flint River Dam which was built in 1908 for the purpose of hydroelectric power generation. The lake is unusually shallow with an average depth of only seventeen feet. In the winter time the lake loses about ten feet due to water let out in anticipation of flooding spring rains (due to past yeas of flooding).
