This part of the Ogeechee River winds through overflow swamps and wooded islands. The scenery is a mix between Piedmont and Coastal Plain. In most places cypress, willow, ironwood and oak line the rivers banks and create an almost jungle-like appearance. Along the way watch for sandbars, which provide excellent places to rest or eat lunch. Be aware that fallen trees along the narrow parts of the Ogeechee do sometimes present a navigational challenge.
