This adventure winds along the rim of Providence Canyon, which has deservedly been coined the nickname “Little Grand Canyon”. The hike features awesome up-close views of the stunningly colored and peculiarly sculpted sandstone canyon walls, as well as canyon views from up top. Within the canyon the floor is a wet and shaded as the trail follows a streambed lined with a variety of plant life including alders, rhododendron and the rare plumleaf azalea. The path along the ridges and rims are well-drained and dry, and typically offer opportunities for some brilliant photos. All nine canyons are accessible from this trail for the adventurous hiker, giving this hike a high quality rating.
