Because Smith Lake is in the middle of Unicoi State Park it is often called Unicoi Lake. The lake offers picturesque north Georgia mountain forest landscape views. Fishing and swimming are two activity opportunities that the lake provides. There is a sand beach that you can lounge on and watch the kids swim in the lake. Near the beach-house there are picnic tables and restrooms. There are buoys that mark off the relatively shallow swimming area. You can rent canoes or pedal boats at the beach house. Also, be aware that there are no lifeguards.
