Stone Mountain Lake, in the middle of Stone Mountain State Park, offers a chance to get immersed in nature just a few minutes away from downtown Atlanta. The lake is a wonderful fishing spot with several different kinds of fish, but it is most popular for bass. Stop at one of the lakes islands to have lunch. While at the park visit the unique feature of Stone Mountain State Park, the bas-relief sculpture of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson, which happens to be the largest of its kind in the world. Be aware that there is a state park parking fee.
