This lake is named after the United States Senator from Georgia Walter F. George; the lake is also commonly known as Lake Eufaula (especially in Alabama). The lake and surrounding area (Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge) is protected and is controlled by the US Army Corp of Engineers. This is a great fishing lake and is home to several fish species, including a variety of bass species, catfish, crappie and bream.
