This section of the Apple River is easily accessible and provides a scenic paddling trip down a relaxing and peaceful river through wooded terrain. The river is mainly runnable in the springtime but may be possible to float after sufficient rainfall. The grade along this section is very mild so fast-flowing water is less of a concern than parts of the Apple River higher upstream. The put-in is just downstream from a small dam in Hanover and the take out at Whitton Road right along Hwy 84.
