Visitors to the Ballard Nature Center will enjoy lots of scenic trails for hiking and running as well as abundant opportunity for wildlife viewing and outdoor education with interpretive trails. The center is located in an area of diverse terrain including woodlands, prairies, savannas, and ponds. The Bluestem Trail is located south of the parking area and nature center and travels through prairies, wetlands, and woodlands full of diverse vegetation and wildlife. The trail can be done by itself or combined with other trails within the area for a longer trip. The trails are not open to bikes or other mechanized vehicles.
