The Ballard Nature Center provides visitors with lots of scenic trails for hiking and running as well as abundant opportunity for wildlife viewing and outdoor education with interpretive trails. The center is located in an area of diverse terrain including woodlands, prairies, savannas, and ponds. The Second Creek Trail is located north of the parking area and nature center and travels through woodlands and prairies along the creek to complete a nice loop hike. The loop can be done by itself or combined with other trails within the area for a longer trip. The trails are only open to hikers and runners.
