This short trail is just one of multiple trails located at the Ballard Nature Center which provides visitors with lots of great scenery as well as abundant opportunity for wildlife viewing and outdoor education. The center is located in an area of diverse terrain including woodlands, prairies, savannas, and ponds. The Wetland/Prairie trail is located south of the parking area and nature center and travels through wetlands and prairies. There are interpretive signs along the route as well as an observation deck. The trail connects to multiple other trails in the area allowing hikers to add more mileage and explore more of the terrain. Bikes and other mechanized vehicles are not allowed on the trails at the nature center. The nature center also offers picnic areas and a fishing pond for kids.
