Located on the scenic Salt Creek, Bemis Woods offers lots of solitude and a natural setting in a busy suburban area just 20 miles from downtown Chicago. Bemis Woods is located just east of the popular and well-known Fullersburg Woods and serves as a good alternative for those looking for a more remote setting. This loop hike follows a dirt trail that circles through dense woodlands and along sections of the Salt Creek offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. There are additional connecting and spur trails along the loop, including the Salt Creek Greenway paved trail that can be added to explore more of the area if desired.
