This large state park located in northern Illinois offers lots of beautiful terrain and landscape that is open to all types of outdoor recreation including fun and scenic hiking. This hike located in the eastern section of the park utilizes a crushed gravel trail which forms three loops that lead through woodlands, prairies, wetlands, and over rolling hills all within close proximity to the Fox River. The diverse and lush vegetation in the park makes it an excellent location for birdwatching and viewing wildflowers. The park is very large and can be busy with lots of boaters and fisherman but the trails do see a little less traffic and still manage to provide lots of solitude.
