This paved multi-use trail is located along the shores of Lake Michigan and provides excellent views of the lake and downtown Chicago. The urban trail starts at 31st street, just four miles south from the heart of downtown Chicago, and passes multiple points of interest along the way to the Chicago River. The path provides a great way to experience the lakefront area while walking, biking, or running. In addition to the paved trail, there are many sections along the way where visitors can walk along the grass and concrete revetments closer to the lake. The hike can be done as an out-and-back or as a one-way by shuttling vehicles or using public transit from one of the many access points along the way.
