Starting from the Wadsworth Road canoe access, this section of the Des Plaines River runs through an area of wooded wilderness that provides the feeling of being out in nature in the middle of a suburban area. The river runs through multiple forest preserves and woods that are home to abundant wildlife and birdlife. The elevation drop along this section of river is minimal making the float easy and relaxing. There are a few other canoe access points along this section of river for paddlers looking for a shorter trip.
