This section of the Des Plaines River Trail passes through some of the most lush and scenic riparian areas along the banks of the river. The trail is accessed at multiple spots including two popular forest preserve areas that provide lots of parking and other amenities. Although the trail is located in a popular suburban area, lots of nice scenery and solitude is what visitors will notice and enjoy most while hiking the trail. The trail can be traveled in either direction and can be done as an out-and-back or a one-way trip by shuttling vehicles. The river trail is multi-use and popular for all types of outdoor recreation.
