This section of the Fox River Trail starts just over the river from the Fox River Shores Forest Preserve and travels along the banks of the river through multiple neighborhoods, industrial areas, preserves and parks to the dam at Elgin. The trail surface consists of mainly asphalt, concrete, and crushed stone. Riders looking to add more mileage can continue further along the trail which continues to follow the Fox River path for many more miles.
