This route follows the Hennepin Feeder Canal which starts at Rock Falls and heads south to the confluence with the east-west canal. The feeder canal, like the rest of the Hennepin Canal, is a straight waterway that is popular for all types of outdoor recreation including paddling, fishing, hiking, and biking. The canal has little current but does pass through multiple tunnels and aqueducts that make for interesting paddling. The Hennepin Canal is an excellent location for beginner paddlers as the water is very calm, there are no obstructions, and there are multiple access spots providing paddlers with the option of setting out on a shorter trip.
