This river flows primarily through agricultural land and wooded terrain with a few small residential structures along the way. The river is mostly flatwater with no dams and convenient put-in and take-out points making it a good option for beginner paddlers with the exception of when the water is running high. The river also passes through two small nature preserves that can provide some good opportunity for wildlife viewing. The river banks can be steep along the way making access to the shoreline difficult but there is an alternate take out at Sugar Island that provides a good stopping or resting spot.
