This section of the Kishwaukee River is one of the most popular for paddling due to the convenient boat access areas and miles of continuous wooded banks that provide lots of solitude and opportunity for viewing wildlife. The river runs through multiple conservation areas that have helped preserve the natural setting of the river. The river does have some elevation drop providing some fun riffles for paddling. There are also possible obstructions and downed trees that may be encountered so some paddling experience may be helpful to run this section of the river. The take-out at Cherry Valley is at Baumann Park which offers a small lake and hiking and biking trails.
