The third largest lake in all of Illinois, Lake Shelbyville, offers miles and miles of shoreline through wooded terrain and peaceful open farmlands ideal for paddling and enjoying nature. The Eagle Creek boat ramp provides good access to the northern central part of the lake. The lake has many side coves and channels that can provide paddlers with calm waters and lots of solitude while paddling and fishing on the large lake. The lake does offer some good opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. There are multiple recreation areas, campgrounds, and hiking and biking trails located around the lake.
