Lake Shelbyville is the third largest lake in all of Illinois and it offers miles and miles of wooded shoreline for paddling and recreation. The Lithia Springs Marina provides access to the southern end of the lake close to the city of Shelbyville. The lake has many side coves and channels that can provide paddlers with calm waters and more solitude while paddling on the large lake. The lake does offer some good opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. There are multiple recreation areas and campgrounds located around the lake as well as multiple hiking and biking trails.
