Paddlers will enjoy miles and miles of wooded shoreline and peaceful rural farmlands when setting out on Lake Shelbyville, the third largest lake in all of Illinois. The Sullivan Marina provides access to the northeast end of the lake. The lake has many side coves and channels that can provide paddlers with calm waters and lots of solitude while exploring the large lake. The lake does offer some good opportunity for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. There are lots of recreation areas and campgrounds located around the lake as well as multiple hiking and biking trails making it a nice place to visit for a few days.
