The Little Wabash River, a tributary of the Wabash River, is a scenic, peaceful river that runs almost entirely through wooded terrain free of structures or signs of development. The wooded shorelines provide lots of solitude and opportunity of wildlife viewing. There are poisonous snakes in the area so be very cautious and keep an eye out for them. While the remoteness of the river is excellent, this does result in limited access to the river so a long day trip is required to run the river from Carmi to New Haven. The river has very little elevation drop resulting in very calm, flat water that is runnable by paddlers of all skill levels.
