Following a wide multi-use dirt path, this hike follows the shores around Mermet Lake through conservation area that provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunity and wild scenery. Hiking through the area expect to encounter a variety of wildlife to include diverse bird species, turtles, and snakes just to name a few. The trail is open to hikers, bikers, and cars so pay attention to other users of the trail. The lake is also a popular spot for fishing, boating, and hunting. The hiking trail does close during duck hunting season and the area is only open to hunters during this time.
