This section of the Nippersink Canoe Trail covers the stream from the Pioneer Road Landing all the way to the Nippersink Canoe Landing, just a short distance from Nippersink Lake and multiple other lakes that are part of the Chain O'Lakes waterway system. This half-day trip follows the calm stream through wetland and woodland terrain that is home to a variety of wildlife and plantlife. The stream has very mild flow and is easily accessible making it a great option for paddlers of all skill levels. There may be occasional debris and obstructions, and low or high water levels can present extra danger when paddling, so check current conditions before setting out. An Illinois water usage stamp is required to float the river for a small fee and can be obtained through multiple permit vendors listed on the Department of Natural Resources website.
