This last section of the Pecatonica River Water Trail is a 7-mile trip down the scenic and remote river that travels through the rural farmlands and woodlands in northern Illinois. The trip starts from the undeveloped boat access at Atten's Landing and ends at Sumner Park in the village of Pecatonica. There is a small dam at the beginning of Sumner Park before the boat ramp that does require an easy portage or paddlers can just take out before the dam. The river does continue further downstream for many miles for paddlers looking to set out on a longer adventure but the Sumner Park take-out marks the end of the official Pecatonica River Water Trail.
