Prairie Lake is the largest of the lakes located in the Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area. The lake is long and narrow with multiple side coves and channels making it an interesting and scenic place to paddle. The lake's tree-lined shores provide some nice scenery and lots of opportunity for viewing wildlife. The lake does not restrict horsepower but does enforce a no-wake zone for the entire lake keeping the waters quiet and calm for paddling and fishing. The fish and wildlife area also offers other lakes, multiple campgrounds, picnic areas, and hiking trails making it a nice place to stay and enjoy nature.
