The highlight of this trip is during the last part through Lowden State Park where the river runs along wooded shoreline and past the Lorado Taft Statue of the Eternal Indian that stands tall above the river up on the bluff. The first part of the river runs through lots of rural farmland terrain and some suburban development close to Byron. The put-in and take-out are both convenient and easy to find and the river is very flat and calm making it a nice option for beginner paddlers out for a relaxing trip.
