The Rock River is known for its scenic St. Peter sandstone cliffs and rock formations, large river islands, and wooded shorelines that create a peaceful and fun setting for paddlers. There are sections of the river that do pass development, but it is mostly cabins and residential structures. The gradient along this section of the river is very minimal and the water is very shallow limiting the use of motor boats making the water conditions excellent for canoeing and kayaking.
