This section of the Salt Creek of the Sangamon River is very popular due to being very wide with few obstacles and easy access off Rocky Ford Bridge and Possum Hollow Bridge. The flow of the river through this section is pretty calm with just small riffles making it perfect for a relaxing float for all skill levels. The scenery along the route is almost entirely wooded shoreline and rural farmland with few structures. There are no alternate take-out spots or put-in spots between the two bridges but there are lots of sand bars and gravel bars that make for great resting areas.
