The trails at Sun Lake Forest Preserve offer excellent scenery and diverse terrain as they lead through dense woodlands and lush wetlands near a glacial lake. The lake and its shores are not accessible due to being unstable but the views from the trail are worthwhile. The area offers some rare plant species and lots of wildlife that make it an interesting area to explore. There are boardwalks, bridges, and benches along the trails making it a nice place to spend time and relax in a peaceful setting.
