Hiking through Tekakwitha Woods and along the Fox River provides visitors with excellent scenery and lots of solitude all within a suburban area located 40 miles from downtown Chicago. The beginning of the hike leads through Tekakwitha Woods past the nature center before crossing a bridge over the Fox River to the Jon J. Duerr Fox River Bend bike trail. The lush vegetation in the area provides great opportunity for enjoying nature and birdwatching. The trail surfaces vary from dirt, pavement, and mowed grass depending on the section of trail being covered.
