Lake Michigan has beautiful beaches and sand dunes. In hopes to help nature preserve the Mount Baldy dune, park officials built a staircase as a new path to the top of the climb. The trail is well marked. Although the beach looks inviting for a swim, there are no lifeguards on duty. The rip current and waves can make swimming challenging and dangerous.
