The Sand Lake Recreation Area is a stopover and wintering area for wildlife. From Giant Canada Geese to other migrating waterfowl are found on this site. Bald Eagles are frequently spotted in the area. The lake has fishing jetties, boat ramp, hiking and wildlife and bird watching. Swimming is not allowed. Canoeing, rowboats, paddleboats, kayaks and electric powered boats are welcome.
